What is the first thing that comes in our minds when we hear the word ‘Bride’? Probably a fearful, shy, scared, innocent girl covered in tons of stuff pops in our mind instantly. As per Indian traditions a bride should be elegant, sophisticated and decked up as much as she can even if it is uncomfortable to her. This day is said to be the biggest day of her life so she should look perfect.
The craze of becoming a bride has increased a lot in terms of perfection. There were some things which did not matter in earlier times but today’s bride never under-estimate a single thing. Whether it’s her make-up artist, Henna Artist or toe nails artist. She wants everything perfect.
The 80’s, 90’s brides, basically our mom’s, were too shy to even tell their parents what they wanted even if it was about their life partners. Arranged marriage was the only option for them. They could not say no even if they didn’t vibe with their partners.
But today’s bride is no more same. She is independent of society’s thoughts. From a fearful, shy, innocent girl to a fiery, fearless, confident, dancing on her toes, she has evolved way too much. Now, she gives her 100% to make sure that everything goes alright.
So, I have noticed 4 things today’s bride want:
- Comfort- Being a bride is not an easy task. Those loaded rituals, vo 30 kilo ka lehenga with 10 kilo ka hair bun, heavy jewelry, mixed emotions, dance rehearsals, etc. makes her feel like a carriage truck. That’s why some choose sneakers instead of heels to at least unload one thing from the truck. Some choose light jewelry and for some it’s the lightest clothes like a red saree.
2. Trending- shaadi ke baaki rituals ho na ho, par Dulhan ki har cheez trending hone ka ritual toh hona hi chahiye, as per bride guidelines. Like trending reels, trending lehenga, trending poses, trending jewellery etc. Because if it’s not trending, how will she post that on social media?
3. Minimal- chahiye bhi sab kuch par dikhna nai chahiye, bride’s logic. I have seen brides hiring costliest make-up artist to get no make-up look. From wearing minimal henna, to customized kalire, to nude make-up look, to pastel lehenga, everything she wants is minimal yet classy. Although minimal or nude makeup look is my favorite also.
4. Emotional connection- I have noticed some brides to wear their mom’s bridal attire or jewelry to get that emotional touch. I really find this gesture cute. Look how cute Isha Ambani’s bridal look is. So damn adorable.
But whatever generation of she is and whatever chooses to wear, a bride is always the center of attraction and what matters most is that smile on her face and her happiness.
